Since my son is close to being 5, and i have been in the enigmatic"Mom-Time-Warp*" (when the hours either creep by or you complain that there are never enough hours in the day to get anything done....yet the years still fly by.....), i have forgotten many things associated with having a bambino around. Namely, how crazy it makes me feel.
It's no secret that i'm somewhat ADD-Riddled. Either you've read something i've written here about it, or you've tried to have a conversation with me...i can bet you may have noticed. A couple of years ago, I started taking meds for it and have actually been able to get stuff done, ponder thoughts for more than a millisecond and follow a conversation. It's been great, I've felt successful and......
.....sorry. I just had to go wipe some green snot off my little distraction.
So....what was i talking about? i don't even know now, because now i have to break to go fetch something un-baby-approved from some little mitts....
ok...where was i? oh well...that thought is far gone......i better get to the point of this blog; i was going to describe my average morning.
Breakfast with the young'uns. First, i get mine fed and make some coffee (not always in that order!) Then my little part-time-pipsqueak arrives and i feed him some breakfast. That usually goes smoothly, then the little'un is content to sit in the high chair while i clean up kitchen. This is a very unpredictable, limited time....interspersed with doling out banana slices to keep him occupied....so i have to HUSTLE! In between washing dishes and wiping counter, i am picking up his water bottle countless times. This has actually become very routine and i can do it effortlessly without it seeming like a distraction......but dishes sure take a long time these days.
I usually have to RUSH to the bathroom while he is in his chair because i never know when i'll get a chance to once he's out....
....
WE INTERRUPT THIS BLOG FOR ANOTHER DISTRACTION... this one is crawling away at a surprisingly fast pace.....i'll have to finish this later....
(maybe i need to increase my meds)

Whoa, Baby!
i'm finally getting around to blogging!! Yes!
Is there anyone else out there still trying to "get off to a good New Year", even though its MARCH!?!?!
I have still managed to get online to check my friends' blogs regularly (..and boy, am i disappointed when they don't write!) Daily, I think I've thought of something to write about...then, before i know it, the day is gone and i am spent. Today...i actually don't' even have anything interesting to write about, rather than an update on what i've been doing, but i realized i actually have some time--SOME TIME!!! So, I've logged on.
What's up?
Well, rather than my usual time burdens that i can't seem to manage (impending perpetual laundry, grocery shopping, exercise, etc....) I am still successful at making time to make art, which used to be my main 'challenge'. I have plans to write about that....eventually. hopefully.
I'm also *trying* to be better about planning meals to eat healthier and at home with the family...but i'm struggling with planning ahead for this. Which means we are still ordering pizza once a week and eating out (crap*) more than i'd like/ more than we can afford.
* Healthy Eating Out in our town is really limited.
SO..the biggest change in our life this year, my main diversion and reason for not checking in with you dear readers, is currently trying to chew on my toe. (Poor thing...if he had any idea how long i've been wearing these socks, he'd find something else to chew on. HEY! its been really cold lately....)
ok...now he's gotten into something that i need to go intervene....i'll be right back.....
.......and so it goes.
I am now a Semi-Supernanny, with a Part-Time Baby from 8-3, Monday thru Friday. He is a darling, little blue-eyed 8 month old ball of energy. He hardly ever cries, is very good natured and has ninja-like balance, so he barely ever falls down. He is a good age to be able to actually put down and watch for a few minutes while you finally get to go to the bathroom...(or blog)....but i'm still getting used to to it.
In fact....its naptime, so i've gotta go. As i settle into our "routine" a little more, i promise to return. I also promise not to lapse into the Baby Talk, as i've already found myself doing on occasion.
Unless you want to hear about how cute it is when he blows huge snot bubbles from his nostrils. It really is funny.....especially when you havent had adult interaction for hours....its hilarious.

funny at five a.m
this is HA-larious!!
i couldn't sleep. I'm the only one in the house awake, and yet, this made me laugh out-loud and feel compelled to post a link.
I tell peops about this website often, so i figured i'd make it a little easier for you.
These writers have the funniest way of describing fashion..it always amuses me. I mean, check out this description of this big goofy blue dress:
"KATY: No, no, it's great and all, but... look, if Violet Beauregard rolled herself out of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and started a fashion line, and Bjork became her main investor, your muumuu would be their first collaboration. "
Plus, its very entertaining to poke fun at celebrities.

Whoa! STOP THE PRESSES! Yo Gabba Gabba Update!!!
ok....i'm so super post-holiday-busy that i've been waiting until i am caught up to blog about the holidays....that's to come later.
HOWEVER....as i was taking down decorations with my little'un, while watching the channel "Noggin", a commercial for Yo Gabba Gabba came on.
All activity came to a halt, as it had my full attention: this season of Yo Gabba Gabba is sure to be the best yet. Jack Black, Roots, great actresses/comediannes-whose-names-escape-me-in-my-excitement (but i will post later) from the Office and SNL, among many others, are scheduled to be special guests.
Who woulda thought that show could get any better?!?!? Since yesterday, I've been listening to the soundtrack that a good friend let me borrow...and now this update!!!
i just had to stop what i was doing and alert the media....er, uh...my readers.
i'll also take this opportunity to say HAPPY NEW YEAR and i can't wait to see you all, once the holiday dust settles!!!

Nice.
At a mad dash to the grocery store this morning, i was forced to slow down and "smell the roses". i was in a super-hurry; i had forgotten today was the Christmas Party at Tread's school- and i had signed up to bring juice boxes. No juiceboxes!
I also wanted to get the hell outta the store because i still had obcene amounts of glitter on my face from a Clown Gig yesterday. We were running late this morning...if i thought i'd be going somewhere besides taking the kid to school, i would've spent a little more time washing that stuff off!
Anyway...for some reason, i was sitting in the parking lot for a minute. I guess i was texting, or something mult-tasking-crazy-inahurry, but i happened to look in my review mirror right when a guy bent over to pick something up. It was right near my jeep, is why i guess i even noticed...so i saw that it was a wallet, with enough cash that i could see it from the jeep--in the rearview. The noteworthy thing is that this guy didn't even hesitate, he went right inside to turn it in.
(...and no, he didn't march inside to buy groceries. i saw him at the customer service desk when i went inside....)
That was a promising event to witness, but maybe not enough to blog about...until my next encounter.
This lady was definitely not in a hurry.
In fact, she was in my way.
I was hustling towards the check-out, and she had stopped her cart in my path to look at coupons. The space to get past her was marginal, but due to my time-crunch, i pushed on through. I kinda knocked her cart out of the way, unintentionally and was hoping maybe she didn't notice.
"Hey!" she called.
I'm thinking: "oops!" and was getting ready to toss a "sorry!" over my shoulder as i rushed to check-out.
Before i could say anything, she beat me to it: "You've got Kibbles & Bits in your cart...would you like a coupon for that?"
This lady had coupons for everything, it turned out...coupons in an envelope, coupons in the cart, some in her purse's front pocket, and inside the purse....and she couldn't find the Kibbles & Bits coupon, but "knew she had just seen it a second ago."
So, while she nervously poured over this huge coupon collection, i learned that her father had just passed away at age 93. He lived in Tennesee and she had been driving from Houston to his house for the past 3 years, so he wouldn't have to go into a nursing home. This is her first Christmas without him.
She was coming through Nacogdoches to buy her kids some groceries; one is a teacher and the other is working on his masters. They all love animals and she stocks them up on dogfood and catfood whenever she comes to visit. She was very proud of her kids. I told her that they were lucky she helped them out like this, and she said she doubted they felt that way. I hope she's wrong.
Like me, she also had a cup of coffee from Java Jacks to accompany her grocery shopping. She was so dang friendly, and so determined to find that coupon, that i decided to forget my rush. I didn't even care about my goofily glittered face. (Based on her eye-shadow selection, i suspected she might have even liked it.) She talked, i listened...she shuffled little papers, i sipped coffee. She finally found my coupon--took scissors out of her purse to cut off the expiration date--and saved me a dollar! That was worth every minute.
I'm about to turn in for the night and was just reflecting on my day. I was very motivated to write about it as soon as i got home, but i Got Busy again. I wanted to be sure and slow down enough to remember those warm, fuzzy feelings i had this morning...nice people doing nice things.
I am sure it happens way more than I realize and I'm just too busy to notice.

Christmastime is here!
wow. where did the last several weeks go? thanksgiving came and went in a dizzying blur of grandparents, gobbling and goofing off!
its way late and i can't sleep, but i figured i'd check in.
i did say i'd do that more often, didn't i?
since i'm too tired to write about all the past weeks events...i'll try to summarize.
i am so thankful for all the wonderful people in my life. It is such a joy to watch my son's relationship with my parents blossom into something special. It makes me smile just thinking aobut it.
My friends are priceless...i even love the friends of my friends. what would we do without each other? I don't even want to know.
there are so many fun festivities around town this time of year...its fabulous! i think that's why i couldn't sleep tonight; i keep thinking about all of the fun things to do over the next few weeks. I've also been trying to process all the folks and fun from the last few days. (Friday Raku party with the "Dirt Dobbers" Ceramics club, Saturday 9 Flags Festival, and all that entails, Entertaining at the Art Center, Christmas Parade, then 2 parties, Sunday Christmas Cantata at church! whew!)
To think that its only just started....
i'll try to be better about staying in touch here. I think my Sleepytime Tea is kicking in.
I'm sending out warm wishes to all the people i love!!!

Fingers is comin' to town....

Hello, hello!
I can't let too much time go by without writing...even though i don't have much to write about today. I mean, there's lots going on, but blog-worthy? not. We are rushing around to get things packed to get out of town. i wanted a break...so here i am.
The holidays are upon us and i am particularly excited because my old friend, Fingers is coming to town. That means that we are going to have some "reunion" performances of Fingers and Lips! We are a little out of practice, but nothing that we can' brush up on.
Hope you can come check us out.
"Tour Dates" to follow.
